Unique View of Seattle – Bill Speidel’s Underground Tour

This afternoon, my friends and I went on an unusual tour of Seattle, a tour of Seattle’s underground network of tunnels and walkways.  If you have been to Seattle before, you probably walked on the sidewalk or drove on the streets, right?  What you probably did not know or realize is that beneath your feet, there are hundreds of tunnels that are hidden and mostly forgotten.  If you want to learn about Seattle’s beginning and see a different side to Seattle, I really recommend going on Bill Speidel’s Underground Tour (Trip Advisor).

Seattle Underground Tour Trip Advisor Review

The tours take about an hour and leave every hour, so you will never need to make a reservation or show up early.  Prices for adults are $18 and prices are slightly cheaper for children, students, and seniors.

To book your tour, walk into the store, pay for your tour, and then they will put a wristband on you with your tour time.  You can hang out outside and “soak” in the Seattle weather, walk across the street to Starbucks, or enjoy some food in their restaurant.

Show up 5-10 minutes before your tour and you will gather in the bar/saloon area to listen to a brief overview of the tour, cover some of the history of Seattle, and then break up into smaller groups.

I don’t want to ruin the tour for you, but basically there are a few old buildings that have stairways that lead to the underground.  From there, you learn about the history of some of the buildings and some famous people who lived/worked/built in Seattle.

P.S. I have one more day in Seattle and we are heading to Olympia in the morning, does anyone have any recommendations for things to see/do near Olympia?  My Amtrak ride begins early Tuesday morning.  Stay tuned for more!
