Random News: New Travel with Grant Logo, 10% Rebate for IHG Rewards Club Credit Card Holders, and Free Cash Back Buying Groceries for 4th of July

Happy 4th of July!  Here is a quick sample of random news from my mind. One of my blog readers, Nick, redesigned my blog logo, what do you guys think?

After a recent Award Wallet account update, I noticed that my IHG rewards balance increased.  After investigating, it looks like I received 3,500 bonus IHG points, thanks to the 10% rebate on reward night points.

IHG 10 Bonus Rebate

My original reservation at the Holiday inn Express Moab, Utah for 35,000 IHG points:

IHG Moab 35000 Points

According Chase’s IHG Rewards Club credit card page, this is a standard (new?) feature.  It is pretty generous where you can receive up to 100,000 IHG points rebated back to your account.  If you stay at IHG properties and earn/redeem a lot of IHG points, you should probably get the Chase IHG Rewards Club credit card so you can take advanatge of the rebated IHG points, among all the other benefits (Chase page).  There is a better sign up offer on FlyerTalk by the way (link).

IHG Rebate Offer

Terms and Conditions of the IHG rebated points (link):

10% Rebate
Please allow 4 to 6 weeks after Reward Night stay for rebated points to be deposited into your account, and 4 to 6 weeks after date of redemption for all other (non-Reward Night) redemption items. Maximum number of points to be rebated not to exceed 100,000 points in a calendar year. IHG® Rewards Club reserves the right to reverse rebated points when redemption item has been returned. In order to receive points for redemption rebates, you must be a U.S. IHG® Rewards Club Select Card holder and your IHG® Rewards Club account must be in good standing. Chase is not responsible for offer fulfillment. The 10% rewards rebate does not apply to redemption of the annual free night benefit.

One last thing, I have used IHG Points + Cash for a few bookings but haven’t seen any rebated points post to my account.  As of now, I would say that you don’t receive the rebated IHG points on IHG Points + Cash bookings.  If you have info to refute that claim, please share it below.  If I see any bonus points in the future, I will be sure to share that info with you.

Last but not least, today is 4th of July and that means BBQ (at least for me).  If you haven’t joined Checkout51 (original article), you earn cash back (redeemable in $20 increments) for purchasing items on the Checkout51 “shopping list.”  Please read the above linked article to learn more about the program and to sign up for the service (it’s free to use).  Here are this weeks offers:

Checkout51 July 4 Deals 1-2 Checkout51 July 4 Deals 3-4

If you have any questions, please leave a comment below.  Have a safe and fun 4th of July weekend!

FWIW I recieved 1,500 IHG points this week for a Cash & Points stay that I made in early June. YMMV.

Thanks for the data point Chris, I was hoping they would rebate IHG Points + Cash stays. I’ll keep my eye (or my Award Wallet account) on the look out.
